The Coroner's Report

• The Coroner is prohibited from making findings on criminal actions or negligence. He is only allowed to make findings of fact. 
• Some Coronial matters are referred to the Department of Public Prosecution but this is a separate action.
• On some occasions, the Medical Board may become involved.  Such circumstances might include:

• the doctor was attempting to mislead the Court in the giving of evidence
• the doctor's practice was considered inappropriate e.g. grossly poor record keeping, the provision of medication without prescription or extremely inappropriate amounts of medication.
