The Coroner's Report
- The Coroner is prohibited from making findings on criminal actions or negligence. He is
only allowed to make findings of fact.
- Some Coronial matters are referred
to the Department of Public Prosecution but this is a
separate action.
- On some occasions, the Medical Board may become involved. Such circumstances might
include:
- the doctor was attempting to mislead the Court in the
giving of evidence
- the doctor's practice was considered inappropriate e.g. grossly poor record keeping, the provision of medication without
prescription or extremely inappropriate amounts of medication.
