Contraindications to Thrombolysis

With the exception of very recent bleeding or trauma most contraindications are relative

• Cardiogenic shock (PTCA is preferred)

• General risks of bleeding

• Anticoagulant use
• Uncontrolled hypertension
• Recent major trauma or major surgery
• Pregnancy/Menses

• Specific sites for bleeding

• Traumatic or prolonged CPR 
• Acute pericardititis
• Dissecting thoracic aneursym
• Recent gastrointestinal bleeding 
• Recent CVA
• Diabetic retinopathy
• Vascular procedure at non-compressible site
